Hi 12parrk- did you ask me this earlier?!
Being in love releases a lot of chemicals in the brain. These include a load of hormones and things called nerve growth factors. These control different aspects of being in love such as closeness and- you guessed it- sex!
Scientists have also find that different areas of the brain are involved too
Apparently eating loads of chocolate causes many of the same feelings- but I prefer love myself!
‘Chemical’ and ‘natural’ aren’t opposites! Love is naturally chemical 🙂
Because all feelings and emotions, likes and dislikes, can be translated into changes that happen in the brain, everything you feel is technically chemical! It seems that ‘love’ makes the levels of dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin go up in your brain. Check out the picture in the link below – the actual science is probably a lot more complicated than that, but it’s an interesting way to show how just a few chemicals can change the way we feel!
