I did…most of the time! Sometimes I found it really boring, but I don’t think that’s because of the science itself – it’s just that learning out of a textbook is never that much fun, and some teachers are better than others…you know how schools are. But when I took the time to properly understand what the textbooks said, I thought the stuff was amazing – I could learn how things work, and where things came from, and how I could make things do what I wanted.
Science isn’t just about memorising facts! When you think about where those facts came from, and what people had to do to get them (like how Benjamin Franklin flew a kite in a thunderstorm to learn about lightning!) you’ll realise that science tells a story, and the better you understand the story, the more interesting it gets. For every fact that they teach you in school, you can always ask WHY! I only really understood this in university, but I wish I’d known this in school 🙂
