I’m still a student, so it’s not like I’m paid an hourly wage to work here! I’m actually getting paid out of a scholarship, which comes to just under £50 a day, I think? That’s counting 365 days a year, so it’s more like I’m given this much to live on each day, rather than being paid this much to work each day!

Hard to say what I am paid on a daily basis, but I get paid between £25000 and £30000 per year (it varies). It might seem like a lot but in truth it’s not fantastic compared to a lot of jobs, but I balance it up with how much I enjoy the job (which is a lot!)…

We mostly work in years, not days.
Typical middle range salaries are £30.000 – £35,000. As you get to more senior levels you get more, typically £40,000 – £50,000. A full professor at a university with lots of people working under them can get £60,000 – £100,000. The very top boss of a whole department or school can get even more. A few of my clinically qualified senior colleagues leading teams of doctors get >£200,000!

Now all you have to do is divide those numbers by 365…

I get £13,00 a year, so I guess around £35 a day – they don’t pay me daily though! I am a student too – I will hopefully get at least £25,000 a year once I have my PhD.

I’m a student too! Doing a PhD we get funded which is kinda like getting paid: a PhD student gets between £13 000 and £20 000 pounds a year depending on your funding body.
