      Relaxation is important, with focus.
Great music which captures all of your attention is probably the last thing you need, but background guff is fine.

Take a look at this BBC website article from last month, fascinating expose of the bad habits people use to revise…

Hi evemackley- Well, I don’t think that loud music is a good idea, because it stops you from paying attention- important for revision!

Something in the background worked for me, as did coffee if it was late. You have to be careful with coffee tho’, because if you drink too much of it you’ll be going to the loo and not revising!

Good luck with your revision- no slipknot or dizzy rascal!

I really think it depends on the person! I’m personally a slightly weird one – caffeine (coffee or tea) sends me straight to sleep, in fact once I consumed a whole can of Red Bull and fell asleep before I got through the first paragraph! Coca Cola is quite literally the only thing that keeps me awake.

On the other hand I can’t function without music, I permanently have headphones on if I need to work. This is because I find people (talking, moving, etc. – including my own thoughts!) more distracting than having any kind of music playing in the background, and I use this music to drown everything else out. But then there are people who get extremely annoyed at having music playing at all. So I think the main thing is finding what works for YOU!

*Disclaimer: I am not advocating the merits of consuming large quantities of Coke and/or blasting loud music during revision :p But when it comes to getting work done – whatever works, really!
